European Steamed Beech
All Pollmeier hardwood flooring products are crafted from specially selected European beech wood - majestic, rich in character and harder than either red oak, birch or cherry. We only use the finest cuts of wood from mature European beech trees that range in age from 80 and 200 years. Our steaming process adds a subtle salmon tone to the wood and eliminates all moisture pockets giving us a more uniform product for a flawless installation.
The Janka hardness test is the standard test for determining a wood's suitability for flooring. European beech has a hardness rating of 1,450, the same as Canadian Hard Maple.
The precise milling of thickness ensures a minimal number of steps when installing - provided that the floor is laid on an even substrate. This prevents the occurrence of excessive wear at the edges. Tiny, uniform micro bevels protect the edges from wear and prevent excessive accumulation of dirt in the joints. These micro bevels are varnished provide visual appeal and protect the edges from detrimental environmental influences such as moisture and the effects of sunlight.
